Myprolife.org was developed to support the Public Policy Program of the
Austin Diocese Office of Pro-Life Activities and Chaste Living

We support the short and long-term public policy goals identified by the
U.S. Bishops in their Plan for Pro-Life Activities.

Our Advocacy Program

Following the structure of the “Congressional District Action Committee” our program’s focus entails the three-fold initiative of:  inform, recruit, organize

Inform              Many people make decisions about pro-life issues without a basic understanding of what is at stake.  This phase of the program promotes education regarding contemporary Life issues and the need for mobilizing a grassroots network for legislative advocacy.  Information developed by the Diocese, the Texas Catholic Conference, and the US Catholic Conference of Bishops will be communicated to parishioners throughout the Diocese.  Educational programs should be promoted in parishes through the parish respect life committee, and in the community through collaborative efforts with other pro-life organizations and ecumenical groups.

Recruit Concerned citizens will be encouraged to commit to active participation in pro-life legislative advocacy through the use of a “Life Roll Card” as well as other postcard initiatives. Participants will be encouraged to advocate through their parish or community organization, forming a network of collaboration throughout the Diocese.

Organize Support will be provided to participants throughout the Diocese through five regional Life Public Policy Coordinators.  Focus will be on the development of a strong grassroots network promoting pro-life legislation at the local, State, and National levels.  Our legislative advocacy includes organized meetings with legislators, on-going writing and telephone contact from constituents, and voter education and voter registration initiatives.
